Horrible wet and windy winter . After the devastation to the canopy by the storm in February and almost completion we were struck again when half of the damage was repeated so pause for thought and it will be rebuilt. If the green is playable we look forward to Opening day this Saturday 13th to be outside. The winter program has finished with a great evening on 6th with a Skittles and F & C supper. The Short Mat season ends with both Pairs and Triples leagues being won by the Charlie Cox team and the competition finals on 10th pairs won by John Doyle and John Bambrough beating Lenny Thorne and Steve Shard , the Championship won by Mike Shilley in a close competition, beating Pete Powell to round off the season Photos above Now Here we come outside
23 February
After 2023 when Keith was Chairman Judith a representative from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance came to receive the Pirrie Park Charity collection for the year We raised £749.45 WELL DONE
(with perfect timing as we left the building after the presentation the Air Ambulance helicopter was just flying overhead to the hospital)

Storm Isha attacks the bowling green, high winds ripping off 60 ft of canopy. Another job for the spring. But Oh what a suprise an email from a neighbour saying 2 8ft polycarbonate sheets in their garden.... after further investigations found a 10 ft section of canopy with 2 legs about 30 kg almost too heavy to lift was upside down about 30 ft on to the back of the roof of the clubroom...more work to dismantle
3 January Committee has arranged 60s Disco for 24 February Tickets from the bar

100 Years young
13 July Audrey Hobbs was invited to the Club for Tea to celebrate her 100th birthday
The ladies of the club had prepared a 'cream tea' to toast her birthday, members past and present came to enjoy the celebration. Arrangements had been made for a selection of sandwiches, scones with strawberries and cream and several cup cakes in the form of 100 all served on bone china to match the occasion. Mary Shilley presented Audrey with a basket of flowers from the club. A stack of cards from individuals was also presented, along with a toast from those present.
A little potted history Audrey a distinguished bowler was Ladies President in 1991 and also Ladies secretary from 1991 well past 2000 when the Ladies Club and Mens Club amalgamated. In honour of her services to Pirrie Park Audrey was made an Honourary Life Member in 2002. In 1996 Audrey was President of Southampton & District Ladies Association and again in 2007, also in 2007 she took on the mantle of Ladies Captain at Pirrie Park. The Committee looked back over the years at her organisational skills, amazing catering, cake making and for more years than I can remember, providing a central seasonal display of flowers in the clubroom and it was decided to ask Mike Shilley as a Past President to present Audrey with the Harry Stock Cup for 2023 at her tea party. (A trophy since 1986 awarded to an individual that has made an outstanding contribution to the Pirrie Park Club)
WELL DONE Audrey , you deserve it and thanks to Barry for the pictures
